We had a lovely little review on BBC’s 6Music breakfast show on a feature called ‘Toast the nation”.. Shaun Keaveny had a chat with Emma Hudson (Kilburn resident) about our community and had some very kind words to say about the ship. A must listen for any Kilburnite.. Get it here from about about 70 minutes in..

Some very sad news..
How distressing that our opening blog is about the imminent closure of our near neighbour and great friends The Luminaire and The Kings Head. I was about when The Kilburn National closed and this feels like 10 times the tragedy cos whereas I saw The Smiths, Mudhoney, The Sugarcubes and loads of other great bands at The National the place only put on gigs 2 or 3 times a month and was to be perfectly honest pretty awful all of the rest of the time. The Luminaire and Kings Head are near permanent fixtures for us and I have never had a bad time in either.
On the Luminaire's Facebook page the comment that summed it up for me was from Eli Lee "Awww no!! You're ten minutes walk from my house and the best music venue in London - it's been a pleasure. And yet The Brondes Age lives on...Kilburnites have a lot to answer for. "
Speaking irregularly to John, Andy and Danny there I know and feel the pain of what a struggle it has often been, especially in the last 2 years. The Good Ship will also close if we do not reach an amicable agreement with our landlord over rent, which I will not go into here for obvious and boring reasons. There are countless problems in the finances of running a venue though, I think I will lay some of those bare next time.
In the meantime I wish all those involved with The Luminaire and The Kings Head all the very best. Gentlemen, ladies and scholars all.
